Deep fried paneer pieces in a green capsicum & chillies flavoured sauce.

Chili paneer is a popular starter dish.

Goes well with fried rice also. This recipe is an Indo-Chinese version i.e a mix of Indian and Chinese cuisine.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

For the SauceTomato sauce: 1 teaspoon
Chili sauce: 1 teaspoon
Soya sauce: ½ teaspoon
Vinegar: ½ teaspoon
Paneer (Indian cottage cheese): 250gm
Onion: 2 medium
Capsicum: 1 big
Chopped ginger: 1 teaspoon
Chopped garlic: 1 teaspoon
Sliced green chili: 1
Cornflour: 1 tablespoon
Oil: 3 tablespoon
Salt to taste

Preparation
  • Mix cornflour with little salt and water and prepare a thin batter.
  • Heat 2 tablespoon of oil in a pan.
  • Cut the paneer, dip in the batter and fry in the oil from both sides till light brown.
  • Remove and keep on a paper towel.
  • Cut the onion and capsicum into desired sizes.
  • Heat the remaining oil  and add the onion, capsicum, ginger, garlic and green chili to it.
  • Fry on medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
  • Mix all the sauce and add it to the pan along with the paneer.
  • Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Serve hot
